Holiday Hamper

Big thanks to Amplomedia for creating this video to help spread the word about the Holiday Hamper Program!

The JCI Holiday Hamper Program would like to say a special thank you to our newest Holiday Hamper sponsor

We have hit our goal is to match 850 Edmonton families!  We are still short on our TURKEY FUND...

Our main goal now is to raise the remaining over $15,000 to hit our goal to purchase the over 850 Turkeys for all of the families this year.  To contribute, please click the "CONTRIBUTE NOW" button above, or use and share the link here: http://bit.ly/1rTlR6n

This is your chance to make a difference in your community this holiday season.

Program Background

The annual Holiday Hamper Program has been creating positive change in our community for over 13 years. Our goal is to provide food and gifts to over 850 local families who cannot afford to do so on their own. 2015’s contributions to the JCI Holiday Hamper Program led to over 3,700 Edmontonians eating over 11 tonnes of turkey and over 42 tonnes of food. Plus over 2300 children opened presents on Christmas Day. That’s was 830+ Edmonton families who would not have had a Christmas if it wasn’t for the generosity of our supporters and volunteers last year. The program launches each year in mid October.

How It Works

Once you sign up to participate you become one of our “Hamper Elves”. As an Elf you are committing to “adopt” a family that has been identified as being in need and then compile a hamper for that family. Each hamper includes ingredients for a holiday meal as well as gifts for the children. The Saturday before Christmas, all Hamper Elves meet at Northlands Expo Centre, pick up the address of your adopted family, a frozen turkey and roasting pan (provided by JCI Edmonton fundraising) and enjoy a cup of joe or hot cocoa with fellow Elves before heading out to hand-deliver your hamper. The Holiday Hamper Program is the highlight event of the year for JCI Edmonton and this project has been recognized nationally by JCI Canada as an outstanding initiative. Creating and hand delivering a hamper to a family in need is an incredibly rewarding experience. Whether you’re interested in adopting a family or simply volunteering your time on the big day, we’d love to see you involved in 2016.
